What is an anonymous proxy?

An , also known as anonymous proxy server allows a user to access a file, Web page or other resource through a server that delivers the services required of the user through the remote server. For example, when a user accesses a Web page for an anonymous proxy, the user talks to the proxy and the proxy is responsible for communicating with the Web page while maintaining user privacy, such as your IP address.

The purpose of such a device is to protect the privacy of the user who is browsing the Internet, and prevent other individuals may register and inspect the user’s connection. Such proxies are commonly used in workplaces or universities in order to pass some barriers placed by administrators, such as firewalls or monitoring services. In some of the sites discussed above, some websites are banned and prohibited to prevent the productivity of workers and students affected. For this reason, the goal is to give a ring to avoid any monitoring system that can monitor the sites they are visiting online.

Anonymous proxies build a “wall” between you and the service you want to access. These servers, therefore, may be jumping platforms to avoid restrictions and reach these services may be blocked by any country or other organization providing the Internet connection. Other people use them simply to ensure that nobody knows where it came from.

There are however, some risks when you use an anonymous proxy. The way they are designed anonymous proxies, especially those working with Web pages, all data are sent unencrypted. For this reason, it is possible that certain confidential information such as user accounts and passwords can be stored in these servers if the administrator has bad intentions. You can also occur, which through a chain of proxies, some users may fall victim to Web sites displaying fake security measures, allowing the user to follow the activities.

For the reasons mentioned above, only anonymous proxies must rely on trust and a clear privacy policy. There are many network sites offer services of this type are well known and reliable, although it is always best to investigate and ask in forums and communities to advise us before using one of these elements.

Be careful when using these as they are the most exploited proxy around, commonly used for all kinds of fraud. Open proxies require you to change your browsers default settings, many places will have some software that does the task for you.

Proxy networks are often slow as well and they usually rely on some kind of donation or subscription to cover their bandwidth charges. Use with caution as this kind of proxy usually attracts the “Shady” type characters.

Well generally a proxy is a way to bypass using your own IP address in order to surf or download any internet content. Many people believe the use of proxies is only by criminals, this is really not true as everyone deserves a chance at anonymity. Often a proxy server is used by students at school or bored office workers looking to get past any network blocks that may be on their systems to enable them to surf any restricted sites. Right now there is likely to be 40 thousand proxy servers running. Some of these will be free and some of the better quality ones will require a membership and subscription.
